Actress Keira Knightley has accepted a proposal from her musician boyfriend James Righton.  Knightley’s representative said “I can confirm that Keira is engaged to be married to James Righton”.

The couple started dating 15 months ago after being introduced by mutual friend Alexa Chung, and in keeping with Keria’s tightly-guarded privacy stance have kept their romance under wraps and are yet to pose together on a red carpet.

Nick Righton, James father said: “They’re a truly lovely couple and as you can imagine they’re over the moon with this news. You can tell with some people if they’re made for each other and these two definitely are.  I would say that despite all the glamour around them they are a couple in their late twenties who treasure traditional family values.”

And the ring? … according to jewellery expert Michael O’Connor “This is truly the most classic of all engagement ring styles.  It’s a solid platinum band with a brilliant cut solitaire diamond, approximately 2 carats. Estimated price tag is $40,000.”

Within the last week, the couple have also bought a £2.4 million townhouse in Spitalfields, a trendy part of East London.  Likely to become their main marital home, it boasts a library, music room, cinema  and dressing room, with a studio house in the back garden
